The Basics
What a hot knife actually does
Every concentrate user has fought the same problem. You scoop a dab with a cold metal tool, move it toward the chamber, and half of it stays welded to the tool. You scrape, you smear, you lose material, and the rest ends up wiped on the rim.
The Hot Knife solves that with heat. The tip is ceramic, and when it warms up the concentrate loses its grip and releases cleanly into the chamber. Ceramic matters for two reasons. It does not react with your extract the way bare metal can, and it holds a gentle even temperature instead of shocking the material. Puffco tunes the heat deliberately low, so terpenes survive the transfer rather than cooking off before the dab even starts.

What changed from the first Hot Knife to the new one
The original invented the category and is now discontinued. The new version is a full redesign built around the complaints people actually had. Two changes matter more than the rest: it is more reliable, and the tip is rounded so it scrapes jars properly.

- Rounded, glazed ceramic tip. The curve lets you work the walls and corners of a jar instead of chipping at them, and the glaze means more of the dab ends up in the chamber instead of clinging to the tool.
- Sturdier construction. This is the reliability fix. The build takes real leverage when you are scraping, and the tip is far less delicate than the original.
- Secure cap with a lanyard loop. It actually stays on in a bag, and you can clip it to a keychain or a case.
- Reworked button. Triple click for a battery reading, press and hold to heat. You always know where you stand.
- USB C fast charging. Zero to full in about 25 minutes.
- Ergonomic body. It sits in the hand at a natural angle for loading rather than forcing your wrist around.

Using It
How to load with a Hot Knife
About ten seconds once you have the rhythm.
Check the charge
Triple click the button. The indicator tells you where the battery is before you commit to a session.
Press and hold
Hold the button to bring the ceramic tip up to temperature. It heats fast, so do not wander off.
Work the jar
Use the rounded edge along the wall and into the corner. The heat does the separating, so you are guiding rather than digging.
Drop it in
Hold the tip over the chamber and let gravity finish the job. It should release on its own without a scrape.
Cap it
Let the tip cool, then seat the cap. That is what keeps lint and pocket grit off the ceramic.
Wipe it down
A cotton swab with iso on the cool tip after a session keeps it performing like new. Never soak the body.

What is the difference between the original Puffco Hot Knife and the new one?
The new Hot Knife has a rounded, glazed ceramic tip that scrapes jars better and leaves less material on the tool, plus sturdier construction, a more secure cap with a lanyard loop, a reworked button with a triple click battery indicator, and USB C fast charging that fills in about 25 minutes. The original had a straight tip, a plain cap, a single function button, and no battery readout. It is discontinued.

If your original still works and you are happy with it, there is no urgency. If it is worn out, or if the fragility and the awkward straight tip bothered you, the new one fixes exactly those two things. First time buyers should go straight to the new version since the original is no longer produced.
Is 1321 an authorized Puffco retailer?

Does the Hot Knife burn off terpenes?
No. The tip is tuned to a temperature high enough to release the concentrate cleanly but low enough to leave the terpene profile intact. That is the whole point of the ceramic tip over a torched metal tool.
Does it work with the Puffco Proxy and Peak Pro?
Yes. It works with the Peak, Peak Pro, Proxy, Pivot, and any quartz banger or e nail setup. It is a loading tool, so it is not tied to one device.
Is the Hot Knife covered by warranty?
Yes. Puffco covers the new Hot Knife for two years from purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. Because we are an authorized retailer, your unit is eligible for that coverage. Normal wear, accidental damage, and misuse are not covered.
How do I clean the ceramic tip?
Let it cool completely, then wipe the tip with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol. Do not submerge the body and do not run it under water. Keep the cap on when it is not in use.
