Too many bars on the shelf. Here's how to pick one.
Walk into any smoke shop right now and it's a wall of screens, flavors and puff numbers that keep climbing. Ignore the noise. Start with one honest question and the choice gets simple.
How long do you want it to last?
Everything else is preference. Longevity is the thing that actually changes which device makes sense for you, so start here. These are the six lines we keep stocked, lined up by how many puffs they're rated for.
What each one is actually for
Same specs we'd give you across the counter. Every one of these runs 5% (50mg) salt nic unless noted.
Hyppe Max Flow
SimplestThe one to hand someone who wants a vape without a menu. Small enough to forget it's in your pocket, no screen to read, nothing to charge.
- Puffs~2,000
- Nicotine5% salt
- BatteryNot rechargeable
- AirflowAdjustable ring
- FormatDraw-activated disposable, 6mL
Geek Bar Pulse
Most flavorsIf picking a flavor is half the fun, this is your wall. The screen shows battery and juice left, and Pulse mode kicks the clouds up when you want them. Steps up to Pulse X and Pulse 2 for more life.
- Puffs~15K (X: 25K · 2: 50K)
- Nicotine5% salt
- BatteryRechargeable USB-C
- ScreenYes + dual mode
- FormatDisposable, 16–18mL, dual mesh coil
Foger Switch Pro
Best valueTwo pieces: a battery you keep and a pod you replace. Once you own the battery, refills cost less than a whole new device and you toss a lot less plastic. Norm mode for max life, Boost for a warmer hit.
- Puffs~30K norm / 18K boost
- Nicotine5% salt
- BatteryRechargeable, swappable
- ScreenOLED + airflow
- FormatModular kit — keep battery, swap pods
UT Bar
Longest + dual flavorFlum's big one. Two flavors sit in the same tank and you flip between them, so you're not committed to one taste for 50,000 puffs. One sealed unit, nothing to assemble.
- PuffsUp to ~50,000
- Nicotine5% salt
- BatteryRechargeable USB-C
- ScreenYes
- FormatDual-flavor switch tank, all-in-one
Flum Mello Pro
Most controlFor the person who fusses with settings. Eco mode stretches it out, Turbo makes it warmer and bolder, and the airflow adjusts. If the Pro is more than you need, the Flum Pebble (~6K) and Mello (~20K) are the calmer step-downs we also keep.
- PuffsUp to ~50,000
- Nicotine5% salt
- BatteryRechargeable USB-C
- ModesEco / Turbo + airflow
- FamilyPebble 6K · Mello 20K · Mello Pro 50K
Juul
Ex-smoker pickThe original for a reason. A little device you charge, with sealed pods that click in. No fruit, no screen, no light show — a discreet tobacco or menthol hit that reads closest to a cigarette. Comes in a lighter 3% if 5% is too much.
- Per pod~200 puffs (4-packs)
- Nicotine3% or 5%
- BatteryRechargeable device
- FlavorsMenthol · Virginia Tobacco
- FormatClosed-pod system — keep device, buy pods
Tell us the one thing you care about
Three things worth a second thought
Nicotine strength
Almost everything on the wall is 5% (50mg) salt nic, which hits hard and fast. Juul is the easy way to go lighter with its 3% pods. New to it? Lower is smarter — you can't take it back out once it's in.
Recharge vs. refill vs. toss
The big-puff bars all charge over USB-C so the juice outlasts the battery. Foger and Juul go a step further: keep the hardware, buy just the pod. That's less money and less plastic over a month.
Flavor commitment
A 50K device is a long time with one taste. That's why the UT Bar carries two at once and Geek Bar keeps a deep flavor bench. If you get bored fast, don't lock into a single-flavor giant.
Questions we get at the counter
Are the puff counts real?
They're a rated ceiling under ideal conditions, not a guarantee. Long, hard pulls burn through faster; short ones stretch it. Treat the numbers as a way to rank devices against each other. A 50K will genuinely outlast a 15K — just don't set your watch by the exact figure.
What's the difference between a disposable and a pod system?
A disposable is one sealed unit — when the juice runs out, the whole thing is done (you can still recharge it to finish the juice on the bigger ones). A pod system like Juul or the Foger Switch Pro keeps the battery and swaps a fresh pod, so you're buying less hardware over time.
Which one is best for someone quitting cigarettes?
Most people coming off cigarettes want something that mimics the ritual without a wall of sweet flavors. Juul is the classic answer — small, discreet, tobacco or menthol, and available in a lighter 3%. If you want a bit more juice per device, a plain-flavor Flum works too. We're not doctors, but we'll talk you through it honestly.
Do I need the rechargeable one?
If you go through a device in a day or two, a rechargeable saves you from tossing a half-full battery. If you only vape now and then, the little non-rechargeable Hyppe is fine and cheaper up front. Match the device to how much you actually use it.
Can I order these online?
No — vapes are in-store only at our Venice shop, 21 and up with valid ID. Our online store carries the non-vape side of 1321. Come by, tell us how you vape, and we'll point you at the right one.
