The Big Shot GT8000 is the standard. Built in Japan since the eighties, it runs a 2,500°F blue turbo flame off an anti flare brass nozzle, which is the part that matters: tilt it, invert it, work at a bad angle, and it does not blow out. The gas flow dial gives you real control over flame length instead of the on-off you get from a gas station torch, and the piezo ignition means no batteries, no striker, no ritual.

The base detaches so you can stand it upright and work hands free, and the manual ignition lock keeps it from lighting in a bag. Refillable, so this is a buy once piece of gear rather than a thing you replace every few months.

Read this before you order

Every Big Shot ships empty. Butane is a hazmat item and cannot travel in the box, so you will need to pick up a can separately. Any standard refined butane works, and the more refined it is the less the valve gums up.
