A heated dab tool solves one problem. Concentrate does not want to leave a cold dabber, so it strings, it smears down the side of a chamber, and a fair amount of it never reaches the bowl at all. The usual workaround is torching the tip, which cooks off the good part before you have loaded anything. Warm the tip properly and the material releases clean. What the Saber does
Focus V put a USB-C battery behind an interchangeable heated tip and gave it three settings: blue for low, green for medium, red for high. One button runs the whole tool and two clicks cycles the level, so you can change heat without putting anything down.
The LED spotlight sits in the nose. Loading a dark chamber at night without a second light source is where most people overfill or miss the bucket, and the Saber lights the target while you work. It is the feature people mention first after a week with it.
Tips are interchangeable and inexpensive, so a bent or gunked tip does not retire the tool. Colorways run from plain black and clear through jade, grape, tangerine and the rest, eleven in total. What the Hot Knife does
Puffco built theirs around a glazed ceramic tip that heats at the push of a button and charges over USB-C. It holds a tuned temperature rather than simply climbing for as long as you hold the button, which is how the terps survive the trip into the chamber. The tip on the current version is shaped to release cleanly, so more of what you picked up ends up in the bowl and less stays on the tool.
Triple click checks the battery, press and hold heats it, and a flat battery is back to full in about twenty five minutes. The cap seats securely and carries the lanyard loop, which is why this is the loader people actually carry rather than leave on a table. Heat, adjustable against tuned
This is the real split. The Saber gives you three settings and expects you to pick one, which earns its keep if you run everything from a soft badder to something that behaves like glass at room temperature. The Hot Knife gives you one temperature that Puffco selected, which is faster in daily use because there is nothing to select.
Neither approach is the better engineering. If you like adjusting things, the Saber rewards that. If you want to pick the tool up and load, the Hot Knife is fewer steps every single time.

Does the Puffco Hot Knife only work with Puffco devices?
Puffco lists it as compatible with every device in their lineup, and that is who it was designed around. Nothing about it is locked to a brand though. It is a heated loader, so it will move concentrate into a banger or another e-rig the same way.
Can you change the temperature on the Hot Knife?
No. It runs one tuned temperature. That is the design choice that separates it from the Saber, and it is the reason it is faster to use.
Are Saber tips replaceable?
Yes. The tips are interchangeable and sold separately, so a bent or gunked tip costs a few dollars rather than a new tool. The Hot Knife tip is part of the tool.
