Core Kit or Pipe Kit? The Proxy, explained

This is the question we get most, and the product names don't help. Here's the short version: they are the same device. What differs is the body it ships in.

Identical in both kits

The Proxy Base. The Bluetooth-enabled heater and battery — the actual device. Same 3D Chamber tech, same Puffco Connect app control, same ~15 dabs per charge, same 2-year warranty, in both kits. You are not choosing between two engines. You are choosing what you attach to the one engine.

Proxy Core Kit

$199

The base plus the Core — an anodized aluminum cup and silicone mouthpiece. No glass anywhere in the box.

  • Ceramic terp pearls spin as you inhale — dense vapor, a rumble you can feel
  • Impact airpath spins airflow through the chamber for a direct, full-spectrum hit
  • Nothing breakable. Genuinely pocketable.
  • In the box: Proxy Base, Core Cup, Core Mouthpiece, Terp Pearls (×3), Joystick Cap
  • Onyx only

Proxy Pipe Kit

$235

The base plus the Proxy Pipe — hand-blown borosilicate glass. The classic Proxy silhouette.

  • Glass filtration smooths and cools the hit
  • Dimmable LED light bar
  • The doorway into the Proxy Collection — the Wizard, the Bub, and more
  • In the box: Proxy Base, Proxy Pipe, Joystick Cap, Loading Tool, Cotton Swabs, USB-C Cable
  • Onyx or Haze

You are not locked in either way. Every piece in the Proxy Collection is cross-compatible with the same base. Start with the Pipe Kit and add the Core accessory ($49) later to go glass-free for a trip. Start with the Core Kit and add glass when you want it. The $36 between the two kits is really a question of which body you want on day one.

One catch worth knowing: the Core only fits the new Bluetooth-enabled Proxy Base. If you own an older Proxy, the Core accessory won't attach.

The lineup, in detail

$109Pivot

Puffco Pivot — the easy entry

The full Puffco experience shrunk to pocket size. Same patented 3D Chamber technology as the Peak and real-time temperature control, with no learning curve and the lowest price in the lineup. The quick-release chamber twists out in a second, and haptic feedback plus a light bar dab timer keep you in sync without an app. If you've never owned an e-rig, start here.

$199Peak

Puffco Peak — the modern classic

Puffco's best-selling e-rig and the one that defined the category. A countertop centerpiece with the 3D Chamber, joystick cap and water filtration, built for the effortless home session. Twenty-second heat-up, roughly 35 dabs a charge, and a single-button interface that's intuitive from the first hit. The sweet spot of price and experience — and the glass top swaps, so it takes Peak and Peak Pro tops.

$389–$439Peak Pro 3DXL

Puffco Peak Pro 3DXL — the flagship

The gold standard. The 3DXL Chamber runs a 78% larger bowl and roughly double the vapor of the standard 3D, with full app control over temperature, session time and vapor level. Roughly 40 dabs a charge, wireless Qi charging, and the only device in the lineup that pairs with your own glass rig via the Peak Pro Link. For flavor chasers who want everything. Onyx and Pearl are $389; the limited-edition Plasma colorway is $439.

$199Proxy Core Kit

Puffco Proxy Core Kit — the one that survives the trip

Puffco's most pocketable powerhouse. A full e-rig with zero glass — no breakable parts, no bulk. The 3D Chamber runs ceramic terp pearls that spin as you inhale, and the impact airpath spins airflow through the chamber for a hit that's direct and intensely flavorful. App-connected like the rest of the Proxy family. The pick if your rig lives in a bag.

Common questions

What's the cheapest Puffco?

The Pivot at $109 is the most affordable way into the lineup, and it still uses the same 3D Chamber technology as the Peak. It's the device we point most first-time buyers toward. See the full Puffco pricing breakdown for every device and accessory.

Proxy Core Kit vs Proxy Pipe Kit — what's the actual difference?

Same device, different body. Both contain the identical Bluetooth Proxy Base — same chamber tech, same app, same ~15 dabs per charge. The Core Kit ($199) ships with an anodized aluminum cup and silicone mouthpiece, so there's no glass to break. The Pipe Kit ($235) ships with a hand-blown borosilicate glass pipe, which smooths the hit and opens the door to the rest of the Proxy Collection. Every Proxy piece is cross-compatible, so you can add the other body later either way.

Peak Pro vs Proxy — which should I get?

Get the Peak Pro 3DXL if you mostly dab at home and want the biggest, most customizable pulls — it's roughly double the vapor and 40 dabs a charge versus 15. Get a Proxy if portability matters; it fits in a palm and goes anywhere. The Peak Pro is the better session. The Proxy is the better companion.

What's the difference between the 3D and 3DXL chamber?

The 3DXL Chamber, found only on the Peak Pro 3DXL, has a roughly 78% larger bowl and about twice the vapor output of the standard 3D Chamber used in the Peak, Pivot and Proxy. It's the single biggest jump in size and output across the lineup — and the main thing you're paying for at the top of the range.

Can I use a Puffco with my own glass rig?

Depends on the device. The Peak Pro Link ($110) runs a Peak Pro through your own rig — it needs a Peak Pro base and firmware AW or newer, so it won't work with a standard Peak. The Pivot Glass Adapter ($55) does the same for the Pivot. The Proxy pairs with any glass in the Proxy Collection rather than third-party rigs. The Peak takes swappable glass tops, which is a different thing — it's a top swap, not a rig adapter.

Why do some Puffcos cost more in certain colors?

Standard colorways are all the same price — the Peak is $199 in Onyx, Sapphire or Zest. Limited-edition runs are the exception: the Peak Pro in Plasma is $439 rather than $389, because it's a limited release with exclusive glasswork and finish rather than a straight recolor.
