The mistake we see most often
People buy the four piece because it has the most parts, never touch the kief chamber, and end up with a shallower flower chamber and a screen to clean for no benefit at all. That is a worse grinder for them than the three piece would have been, bought at a higher price.
Be honest about whether you use kief. If the answer is no, or if it is "I have some in a jar somewhere and never reach for it", the three piece is the better tool. If you genuinely sprinkle it on a bowl, the four piece earns its keep and then some.
Things that do not change
Whichever build you land on, these come with it. They are the reason the brand costs what it costs.
- The tooth design is identical. A patented box shaped tooth with concave, serrated cutting surfaces, eight of them, grinding in both directions. It shreds rather than crushes, which is why the output is fluffy rather than compacted.
- The threads are the same. A proprietary pattern that resists cross threading, so the lid does not seize shut and you do not get aluminum flakes falling into your flower the way cheap grinders produce them.

Questions
Is a 4 piece grinder better than a 2 piece?
Not in grind quality. The teeth are identical across every build, so the flower comes out the same. A four piece adds a flower chamber and a kief catch, which is only better if you want those things. If you do not use kief, you are paying more for a shallower flower chamber and an extra part to clean.
What is the difference between a 3 piece and a 4 piece?
The four piece adds a stainless screen and a kief chamber beneath the flower chamber. Because that screen takes up room, the flower chamber on a four piece is shallower than on a three piece of the same diameter. If you do not collect kief, the three piece holds more.
Do I actually need a kief catcher?
Only if you use kief. It fills slowly, over weeks of regular grinding, and a lot of people who buy a four piece never empty it. Be honest with yourself before paying for the feature.
Which piece count is most popular?
Four piece by a wide margin, which is partly genuine demand and partly people assuming more parts means better. Three piece is the quiet pick among people who have owned a few grinders.
Does the piece count change how it grinds?
No. The patented tooth design, the number of cutting surfaces and the two direction grinding are the same in every build. Only what happens below the teeth changes.
Is a 2 piece worth buying at all?
Yes, if pocketability and simplicity are what you want. It is the shortest, cheapest and easiest to clean, and the grind is exactly the same. It is a genuine choice, not a downgrade.
Which size goes with which piece count?
